The poor little guy has a pneumonia!

So Joy took Franklin to the vet yesterday after our long, painful, night awake from him coughing all night long. After some tests and xrays of his lungs, it was revealed that he has the initial stages of pneumonia! The poor little fellah! They put him on some heavy meds. One of them you actually have to wear rubber gloves to handle! I could tell a difference instantly after he took the medication although it must have worn off during the night because he awoke again started coughing. We got him back to bed after an hour or so. Im sure things will heal up nicely in a few weeks with him. Otis should be OK because he has had all of his shots, but in the case that he catches anything, Boston Buddies has said that they will cover the vet bills for Otis as well. They have been great about this whole thing and they feel very bad that it has all happened.

Ill keep posting pics as we get them downloaded and keep up with little Franklin's progress as he gets better.

Meet Franklin!

On Saturday, June 24th, we drove down to Huntinton Beach to pick up a new buddy for Otis. He is a sweet little 2 year old Boston Terrier that we named Franklin. So far, he and Otis are getting along really well. No fights! In fact, there is a lot of love happening! Franklin is a little over sexed and constantly tries to put the moves on Otis. Otis for the most part doesnt seem to be threatened by this, so it is OK for now. Franklin has a really bad cough and respiratory problem, so we are keeping him away from the bunnies until he gets better. You can not really tell if these puppy match ups will work out in the first few days, so time will tell if Franklin will be a permanent part of our family. We are confident that it will though. As Joy said recently, with enough love, any ailment will get better over time. And Otis really seems to enjoy his company so far!

I will post more photos as we get to know our new little friend. Keep checking!!

Otis on the Beach

Here are some fun pics of Otis and us on the beach. He had a lot of fun, but was really scared of the water. I also put up a great photo that Joy took after Otis and I ran down the beach. Its the one of our footprints together in the sand. Thats probably one of my favorite all time photographs now! I love my talented photographer wife!!

Trip to Cambria

Joy and I took a great trip to Cambria this past weekend. We took the boy with us and had a fantastic time! Cambria is a very dog friendly town and has a lot to offer the person who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of big city life. We took Otis to a dog park where me made lots of friends. On a hike that we went on our last day, we realized that Otis came back with a body full of ticks the size of watermelons!... Ok, maybe thats a bit of an exaggeration, but they were bigger than I had ever seen in Missouri! Anyway, we have given him medicine, and took him to the Vet to get a comb over by one of their techs. He has a clean bill of health, and is back to his parasite free self!
